An attempt to capture the flight, the poise and the stillness of the birds of Ahmedabad
An attempt to capture the flight, the poise and the stillness of the birds of Ahmedabad
As a young bird enthusiast, I welcome you to this magical journey. Birds have fascinated me since childhood, from feeding peanuts to peacocks to training my cockatiel, Krishna.
Ahmedabad, with its blend of buildings and green pockets, is home to many beautiful birds. They’re everywhere – on rooftops, in gardens, parking lots, even footpaths – yet most of us don’t even know their names. This book is my attempt to change that, by sharing my experiences and learnings about 10 birds commonly seen in the city.
My journey began when Mrs. Palak Gajrawala generously let me borrow a DSLR camera. I had no experience—just curiosity and excitement. With support from my parents (who woke up at 5 AM to take me birding), mentors like Mr. Rubin Sagar and Mr. Madhu Menon, and access to Eklavya School’s parakeets, I slowly built this collection.
The book begins with migratory birds – our winter guests – and flows into everyday birds we often overlook. With fun facts, stories, and colourful photos, I hope this book brings you closer to the feathered world I love so much.

It is a paradisematic country
